چکیده

Similar to fresh- and brackish water aquaculture ponds, commercial shrimp farming in degraded saline areas holds the potential bury carbon (C) sediments. However, studies on mechanisms of sediment C dynamics C-flux response inland management practices are still scarce. Therefore, objectives present study quantify burial rate ponds assess impact sensitive fractions bottom ponds. The samples (n = 12 from each pond) were collected six (1000 m2 area different ages. depth, accumulation levels total (TC), organic (TOC) oxidizable (SOC) its determined using standard procedures. data analysed by one-way analysis variance (ANOVA), followed Duncan's multiple range test for comparing means, Pearson correlation was used relationship between pond parameters SOC content. results revealed that annual rates varied 902 1346 kg ha?1 year?1 7-year-old earthen (EPs) cemented (BCPs), respectively. fractions, including TC, TOC, (very labile, VLc; Lc; less LLc), non-labile (NLc)) progressively increased over age. years both active (AC) passive (PC) pools sediments, helped restoration improvement quality enhanced sequestration Furthermore, a significant increase level particulate (POC) BCPs justified non-ploughing at facilitated formation macro- micro-aggregates, thereby increasing retention stability This suggested semi-arid soils represented considerable hotspots, stable improved quality.

Investigation of Sedimentation of Small Catchments under Precipitation Pattern and Basin Characteristics in Arid and Semi-Arid Climate

Splash (raindrop) erosion plays an significant role in soil loss, especially in arid and semi-arid regions with poor vegetation. In this paper, by analyzing the pattern of rainfalls that occurred during 26 years in four basins located in Semnan County, their effect on the pattern of eroded sediments from the basin was investigated. Sedimentary layers from the sampling of retarding reservoir sed...

Algal Toxins in Pond Aquaculture

Algal toxins are organic molecules produced by a variety of algae in marine, brackish and fresh waters, as well as on wet soils (Falconer, 1993). They are a problem in aquaculture when they are produced in sufficient quantities, with sufficient potency, to kill cultured organisms, decrease feeding and growth rates, cause food safety issues, or adversely affect the quality of the product (Shumwa...
